On Friday and Monday I got to help a sub. with the students and it was as if the students were my students. I also forgot to mention that I work with two great students to help them learn more English and also practice there reading skills. I love working with them and watching there reading skills improve. I seem to get along with the students and also having a great connection with them.I have been helping 2 students get ready for there ASB elections 1 of them running for Treasurer and V.P., I help them with posters and their speech. I am also helping them create a way to have people vote for them.
A few students were asking me today(5.21.08) if I will be working with them for ever and I told them I wasn't. They all were a bit depressed and told me that there going to miss me a lot, because there past student helpers weren't as fun as I am. I really felt touched :)
The kids are so smart and GREAT!
I will miss them when I leave.

I had a rough two days when I usually go to internship....

I had major teeth/dentist issues. I basically showed up for internship and my mentor send me back home in 5 minutes, because she could see I was in pain. Hopefully next week I will be able to attend again. I feel much better today. I feel that HTHMA helped me by giving more experience with HTML pages and basic computer applications. This is helping me update my group's web site. I wished I learned how to work with people better, as I now see that is very important in the business world. The best part is that I am making great connections and friends that will give me advice for the real world!

My internship has prepare me in filing and office organization skills. This will help me in a future career in anything relating to working in an office environment. During junior year we had an internship class and we learned how to work in a real world environment, and how to communicate with professionals. Interacting with my co-works teaches not to be intimidated with adults because I know that by presenting myself in a professional manner, they will respect me. I recieve a lot of good advice from my mentors. I honestly don't think that I would have done anything much different as a student besides maybe learning more in photoshop and other computer programs because my internship asks me to make a poster or something and I have to teach myself basically. I enjoy helping the artists check in because I often get into interesting conversations with them and meet really interesting people.

Internship this past week was good.I've been working on my own spanish a lot. I have also almost finished the ecuador and galapagos slideshow to send out to thepeople who contributed tothe trip. My internship isn't preparing me for my future career because I don't want to be a spanish teacher. I took on this internship to better my spanish, which the internship is definitely doing. HTHMA has prepared me for my internship because it has taught me how to be professional and how to interact with adults. The freshman are definitely preparing me for the real world, because it is teaching me how to handle people that dont listen. I don't wish I had done anything different while at thisschool. I love working with johanna during prep period on my spanish, it is my favorite part of internship.

I went to the doctor Monday and found out I had strep throat, so I wasn't able to attend internship this week because I was still super sick and didn't want to give anyone anything.

I feel HTHMA has helped me be prepared because I know how to interact with adults in a professional environment. I think that if I would have gone to a regular school I would have felt really uncomfortable being around so many adults and having such serious work. HTHMA has given me the skills to be able to work with older people and be confident with the work I have done.

Internship has helped me develop people skills and compassion for people who are imprisoned. We tend to judge others before actually giving them a chance. Most of the clients that write to us are innocent but judged for actions or events that occurred around them.HTHMA has always taught us Integrity. Not to judge others and perceive things in different ways.
Also HTHMA has always set the professional standards. I learned a lot from this school. Going to power lunches and meeting important individuals.

Everyday I deal with various people some are lawyers others are grad students. Attending HTHMA I wish we could do more field trips and venture into the different careers.

I only went to internship on Tuesday. On Thursday they were out all day and did not need me but I also missed school because I was not feeling well. On Tuesday they had a meeting from 9:30am-11:45am so I had nothing to do for a while.

1)My internship has helped me get accustomed to the office environment. Thanks to this experience I am learning that an office environment is probably not the best place for me.

2)HTHMA has prepared me for internship by teaching me to interact with adults in a professional environment. I would not have gotten the same experience going to a regular school.

3)The interaction with my colleagues at my internship has taught me how to interact in a professional environment. It is a very valuable experience.

4)I have learned many things at internship but there is nothing I would do differently.

5)My most enjoyable project is dropping off the mail.

My internship has very helpful to me in determining a career. Originally, I was thinking that I might become a Math teacher, but my internship has shown me that I'm not really cut out to be a teacher.

Honestly, my internship is quite different than anything I've done at HTHMA. The only thing I can think of that has helped me is my experience tutoring my classmates.

Working with Dave is fun, and I've realized that, in order to work well together, you need to be able to have fun with your colleagues.

I don't think I would have done anything different as a student.

The most favorite responsibility is tutoring the students. I helping the students understand Math.

1. I think my internship has been extremely affective in implementing life skills. The real estate market is struggling greatly. My company is tiny and has to work hard and creatively to stay afloat. I'm learning a lot about running and being apart of a business.
2. HTHMA was good preparation for internship. At both my internship and HTHMA I've had to be creative, work through challenges, and show professionalism.
3. I have to interact with my colleagues professionally. I will always have to do maintain that professionalism through out my life.
4. I don't think I would do anything different at HTHMA. I'm pretty proud of me, as a student, here.
5. I like making phone calls at my internship. I love communication and contact with people who have similar responsibilities to me. It's cool to relate to them.

1) M. Noble: How effective has your internship been in preparing you for a future career?
I believe that vector has made me more professional, and has helped me with my development in communicating myself.

2) C. Rosskopf: How has HTHMA prepared you for your internship?
Well, HTHMA has givin me the confidence to deal with adult on a professional level.
For example I feel comfortable talking with people I dont know.
3) M. Hicks: How are the interactions with your colleagues at internship preparing you for the "real" world?
Well, I'm realizing the real world is a scary place, where money is the motivation behind most things.

4) R. Kuhl: Given what you have learned on your internship, what do you wish you had done differently as a student at HTHMA?
I have learned you can't give up if you want things to work out.
I wish that I had have done better during my 11th grade internship.

5) D. Wirts: What has been your most enjoyable project/responsibility during your internship and why?

1) I believe that I've gained many insights into the business world that I would not have been exposed to in any other circumstance, and am thus more prepared to face working in the real world after college.

2) By specifically working in a "project based" setting, I feel like I am already prepared to face tasks like I would working an everyday job. When showing up to work I don't sit down and open up a text book to find the work I need to do, I'm assigned projects that need to be done at a specific deadline.

3) It may just be the particular field that I'm working in, but everything is a lot more laid back than you get the impression of in school.

4) Nothing really...

5) I think the most enjoyable part of being at this internship, is that they're actually trusting me with projects that they have clients paying them for, which means my work isn't just going to waste as some kind of "satisfy the school" project.

1) The internship has made me realize just how much I enjoy programming, and that I want to do that as a career. It's been awesome working by myself or with a team on projects that will be used in the real world, and has taught me how the world of software development works.

2) HTHMA really helped me in the sense that it made me realize that to GET an internship, ask around and grab onto opportunities available. The biggest difference High Tech High has made is not been in the internship itself, but in enabling me to go out and get the internship in the first place.

3) My internship IS the real world - you can't have better preparation than first hand experience.

4) Spent even less time worrying about how good each assignment was and instead learn more about what I'm interested in.

5) The most enjoyable has been the development of an awesome program which, though I can't specifically describe it due to a non-disclosure agreement, will change the industry it's intended for.

Wow!! I got sick since the first two weeks honestly I thought it was going to be some regular cold, but for my surprise I still have it and I don’t even know why. I was absent one day of the week thanks to my sickness. During the First two weeks the kids weren't that comfortable with me being there with them but now they call me; Ms. Michelle =). They ask me for help to read and write, to think, etc. Also I know this that the teacher has some techniques to get the students attention because she can't just yell them.
