Internships Week 4

1) L. Segal: In what ways has your internship challenged you? If not, what can you do to seek out growth in your internship?
2) C. Rosskopf: How will you list this Internship experience on your resume?
-List skills and accomplishments
-Use power words. For every skill, accomplishment, or job described, use the most active impressive verb you can think of (which is also accurate). Begin the sentence with this verb, except when you must vary the sentence structure to avoid repetitious writing.

My experience is going quite well. I got to go to a Padre's Game yesterday. It was a lot of fun. My internship decided to reward their volunteers for their hard work!

I also got fish and chips for lunch!

My internship is quite a challenge. i need to keep learning how to deal with office and personal relations. I feel weird eating lunch with my boss, but yet I feel like she is cool. I want to be informal and say what I what I want, but also be professional. Creating these skills and creating friends and a strong network is my challenge.

Some of the many challenges at internship is it becomes very difficult sorting letters. Sometimes I have to face different scenarios and cases that are hard to sort. I may have sensitive cases and other that are ridiculous. I hope to obtain lots of knowledge from this internship. I am fascinated by law.

Skills and accomplishments
I acquired and evaluated data, organized and maintained files and interpreted and communicated information, as well as use a computer to process data

My internship has challenged me in a lot of different ways. One of the most prominent ones is just keeping up with legal terms and remembering all of the things that the other interns, who are law students, already know, such as what are AOBs (Attorney's Opening Brief), Where to put a prescreened application once it's completely ready for review, etc.

Internships
-----------
Cal Western School of Law - California Innocence Project
Spring 2008
-I Helped Monitor Incoming letters from Inmates Seeking assistance.

-Cataloged and maintained letters in specific files.

1)My internship has challenged me. Currently, I'm "networking". I have 2 REO lists with hundreds of companies I have to call and ask about starting potential business with. I'm not very confident because I do not know all the 'real estate' terms. My challenge is to be able to maintain a professional and confident voice while on the phone.

2)During the spring 2008 semester I interned from 12:30 to 3:30, monday through friday, at a Real Estate company called "American Dream Mortgage". At my internship I researched, better defined, and distributed data for past customers. I imputed information using programs on the computers also. I as well networked by contacting companies trying to establish a relationship for potential business.

1.My internship have given me projects that have allowed me to incorporate my own ideas but still keep to their guidelines. I am happy to deal with these projects because they are projects that give me enough freedom to incorporate my thoughts but still try and design to their standards.

2.Internship Spring 2008- Classics4Kids
Interning at a non-profit organization that exposes elementary school kids to classical music. I maintain and clean the work environment. I disassemble documents, design new sheets for their presentation folders, and created a master power point that the company uses to present to audiences.

My internship has challenged me by asking me to create an add for their summer camp on photoshop, which I am not that familiar with. So i basically had to teach myself everything right then and there.
Intern at Museum of Living Artists:
-designed an add using the program photoshop
-organized and filed important documents
-inputed data into computer database
-calculated hours on time sheets

1) I don't think my internship has really challenged me in the way that you (or any teacher) would use the word, I haven't been pressed into learning tons of new concepts, but what I have been challenged to do is be more proactive about my work. In other words, they have projects for me, they can use my skills, but they're not going to approach me about it. If I want to work, I need to ask them for it, and inform them when I have finished, so I can begin a new project, and since school is pretty much the opposite that was a bit of a challenge to me the first couple weeks.

2) Internship (Spring 2008): Designed and developed multiple website applications for corporate presences. Modified and maintained existing websites. Developed, in cooperation with others, -- can't talk about the project, due to signing an NDA --.

My internship has challenged me by experiencing working with children to have the feel of becoming a teacher. Also it has helped me see what helps teachers become better at teaching by attending meetings talking about students that need more success /help in understanding certain material. I love experiencing what a teacher goes through and how they work with the elementary children to help them understand lessons that are being taught.

1) The biggest challange has been that 80% of the programming I've done has been in languages that I new little or nothing about when I first started the internship, so I've had to do a lot of "hit the ground running" work. At the same time, with the software industry new tools and languages are always coming out, so this sort of work will probably be the status quo for a long time to come.

2) Programmer for CR - new abilities gained: Ability to code well in ASP and JavaScript (and hopefully JAVA) experience with MSSQL databases and software development, experience building Sales systems and inventory management systems.
Independent Work, Problem Solving, comming up with creative solutions, interacting with clients, producing effective and efficient work.

I am so proud of my work, remember the boy that I am suppose to help the most? Well he got an evaluation on his reading and writing skills! And it shows that since I being helping him he has improved =).
Some of the other kids get jealous of Tom because I am with him most of the time. I still sick and my mentor told me that I am one of those persons who gets easily sick. it didn’t make sense when she told me but when she explained that every week there is at least one to two sick students and that should be the reason of my sickness since I get to be around them all the time.
My internship has though me how to be way more PATIENT with kids because some of them don’t want to do their work, or are easily distracted. That has being my biggest challenge.
