Stuff is going well at the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana. I am getting to practice my Japanese and learn a little more. I have also already learned a lot about the real business world. I even got a taste of office politics, and city council politics, and it is a vicious thing. There's biting and tearing left and right!

I enjoy it though, though I wish I could do something more thought provoking. I am just updating their website from the older HTML pages to a newer and cooler website.

I feel really good about my internship, I is hard and takes alot of work and sometimes I feel like quiting. I am working at vector marketing. I have to set up appointment and make a lot of phone calls. I also go to different colleges to pass out flyers about the job. I though doing a internship would be a lot easier but its hard, because I feel so busy that I dont have time for myself. It is fullfilling in the since that I get experience. I realize that I was a future job that is artsy and not soooo serious.

My general feelings about this internship are pretty great, I can go with optimistic thoughts and I always leave pretty happy with what I did.
I intern at Fables by Barrie, which is a local clothing line here in San Diego. My mentor is a fierce bitch, really. She is very outgoing, personable and intelligent. It's really refreshing to hang out with someone who comes from a different background than yourself (i.e. Iowa) and with different interests than yourself.
My daily duties are always changing. Sometimes, I will be sewing. Sometimes I'll be cutting and sometimes I'll be doing computer work. Honestly, Fables has no 'checklist'. My work is dynamic and changes all of the time, but on a daily basis I'd say there's a good balance between sewing and computer work.
My internship has gone beyond my expectations, simply because I thought I was going to be cutting fabric -- and maybe sewing if I was lucky. I do tons more than that, so that's why I feel it's fulfilling.
My outlook on the future has been changed in that if I went into the fashion industry, I now have a fuzzy picture of what I am up against. I know some of the ins and outs, and there's always beneficial information available to me if I ever feel like lurking, woo!

I am interning with Johanna. Johanna is my former Spanish teacher, if you didn't know. I like my internship because I get time to work on my Spanish and help out around the class. Each week, Johanna gives me a list of things to complete throughout the week. I have so far helped plan the last project for the freshman and the trip to the City of Angels Orphanage in TJ. The internship has fulfilled my expectations because I am able to work on my Spanish more than I thought. Listening to the students practice their Spanish and helping them write their Spanish is great practice. Although I love working with the freshmen, I have definitely already made my decision that I do not want to be a teacher when I grow up. It's just not right for me. I am looking forward to the rest of ender session with Johanna and the students.

I'm interning at Classics4Kids. They are a program that plans recitals for elementary school students. The program exposes them to classical music. It serves as a catalyst to encourage kids to be open-minded about all types of music.

Internship is going well. I have something to do everyday. The people i work with are very friendly and kind. I like to think that i have more than one mentor. I have about three. Lori, Dana and Marion are always there to help and guide me through the work.
At internship I usually shred important documents, send mail off, make copies, input emails into their database, and many other things.

Internship is great. I enjoy going there every Tuesday and Thursday. I hope this internship opens up many opportunities for the future.

Hey it's Jenny :] I intern at Cal Western School of Law with the California Innocence Project and so far I really like it. I go every Tuesday and Thursday from 930-2 and do different tasks every time. My mentor is awesome. Her name is Kimberly and is really friendly and super nice. I also work with a man named Jeff Chin and random interns that I don't know the names of. So far the most interesting thing I've done is get to open letters from the prisoners explaining their situations. Once I open a letter, I read it[duh] and then check in this computer program to see if the person is already in contact with the CIP. If they aren't, I put them in the database and then send them a letter/packet to get to know more about their situation and where to go from there. If their names are in the computer already I just follow up with whatever needs to be done. It seems sorta boring, but it's really interesting and a lot of work. I want to be a lawyer so it's cool to see this type of law being done. I get a chance to talk to current law students and get their opinions on college, law school, and actually working as a lawyer. So far internship has been great and I hope to keep liking it. Before I wasn't really sure if it was what I wanted, but now I know I want to pursue law and even though law school seems like it will be challenging, I know its the way I want to go.

I intern at two different places. On Mondays and Wednesdays I intern at the Art Department in North Park and on Tues. and Thurs. I intern that the Museum of Living Artist in Balboa Park. So far I love my internships. Both of my mentors are the nicest people I know. They treat my like friends and not like I'm working for them. Some of my daily duties include (for Mon and Wed) helping them get the word out about some of their exhibitions, which includes making brochures and posters to post around. I also write formal letters to businesses requesting donations and other such things. My duties at Balboa Park include helping various artists check into the current exhibition, creating labels for the art pieces that are being entered and hanging all of the art piece around the museum. I feel that all of my expectations have been fulfilled, I knew what to expect for the balboa park museum because I interned there for my junior year, and I expected the north park one to be the same and it has been. There are nothing but nice people who are always asking you if you are ok with what they are telling you do and always there to help. Going to these internships have changed my outlook on the real world because never realized how much it takes to run a business and how many different jobs there are in just one company. I realized that I shouldn't worry right now about choosing a career because there are so many different ones out there that I should just experience as much as I can and see what I like and what I'm good at.

Internship has been an enjoyable experience these past couple weeks. So far I've been researching past loans that our company has issued and getting updated on their real estate status. For example: new restaurants, what other houses haves sold for in the neighborhood, the schools surrounding them, etc. We want to update our customers so I've been printing out the information and creating packets to be mailed out. This is another way to network and market. My mentor has been very helpful as well. He takes the time to explain the reasoning behind what I'm doing as well as how to do it.

My internship ws rather interesting. I intern with Dave Stahnke, helping him teach his afternoon freshman Math/Physics class.

It takes a lot of patience to teach those freshman, who have incredibly short attention spans. The times that I've taught, I had trouble keeping the students' attention.

This internship has shown me that I'm not really suited to teach high school freshman. My teaching style is too boring and uninteresting.

From Ximena

I am interning at Originales Duck, in Tijuana MX. Originales Duck is a company that makes uniforms for hospitals/ schools/ sport teams etc and also does screen print and embroidery. My dad is the owner/ mentor. Through out these past two weeks I have been working on their website. I really like my internship, i feel that i have been learning a lot and that im getting a lot of things done. I feel that this has been helping me to gain more responsibility. This is a very good experience for me, because I am planning to major in business/ marketing and creating the company’s website is a good way to practice my marketing skills. This is also helping me to understand how to run a business.

My internship takes place at Cal Western School of Law in downtown.I am working with The Innocence Project, which is a program dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people. I go every Tuesdays and Thursdays with Jenny. The environment in the office is very fun. My mentor is very sweet and funny. We work with graduate students and lawyers. My duties include opening letters that prisoners have written for help from the project. It is very interesting and saddening at the same time. I then put them in our database and send them letters.

Law had never been an interest but I feel it might in the future. Interning here is an amazing experience, I am helping people out there that could be charged and die in jail for crimes they did not commit.

Internship: Collaberation Reverberation

I've been doing web development and graphic design. Parking in downtown is terrible, but web programming is awesome. I cannot divulge more information because of a confidentiality agreement.

Side note: Being here has given me the opportunity to both improve on the skills that I already had, and to gain new skill sets that are useful in the business world. My mentors are friends of mine, so it's pretty cool to be able to work with people that you know, and it's pretty sweet that we're getting real projects for real businesses, not just some busywork.

I intern at Kit Carson Elementary located in Linda Vista. I work with 4th graders and my mentor is Maria Kammerzell. My first week I attended a teacher meeting(which was somewhat interesting). Last week (5.15.08) I went on a field trip and took a hike with the kids at Mission Trails Park to learn about the Missions. It was great I am having so much fun.

The kids are GREAT!
