Internships Week 5

1) C. Rosskopf: What do you want to do/be when you grow up? Has this internship experience shaped your thoughts on this at all?

2) C. Rosskopf is also just curious about your plans for the summer.

I want to study to become an elementary school teacher, maybe between 1st-4th grade. I also had a chance to work with kindergarten and I LOVE working with them. They really caught my eye and I seem to connect with them faster and able to help them in many ways. It seems easier but I see that we have to have much more patients with those kids. During this experience of working with students I’m beginning to decide whether to teach between kindergarten and 4th grade. I’m glad that I have taken the chance to be “behind” the scenes of what a teacher does and there secrets of how to become a better teacher and how to grab a students attention for each lesson.
For the summer I’m planning to attend a few events that are going to be happening at Carson Elementary School because the school is year around and there last day is July 18th. Well such as there events that will happen will be a Carnival for the whole school, Radish contest at Del Mar Fair Grounds only for the fourth graders, a theater at a middle school, and Skateworld. My last day with the students is June 6th. I’m very sad that it’s coming to an end fast, but I had a student say to me during reading time “Ms. Leti why do you have to leave if your going to be a teacher?” I respond ”Well I’m still not done with school and I’ll come back to visit soon” and the student responded “Well Ms. Leti you’re the coolest person ever we will all miss you, but I will miss you more!” Also a kindergarten student told me “Ms. Leti don’t leave come with us and leave the 4th graders they are big enough and we want you” every student touched my heart so much I don’t want to leave. These both grade levels are very smart and I can’t believe it still. The teachers are great teachers and treat them much older then what they really are.

As for the next week I will intern with Melissa Hicks until Endersession is over.

I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up but my internship has inspired me to be a part of some kind of organization that better supports the public. I would like to work with art and artists.

My plans for this summer arnt too exciting. Im going on a road trip with my boyfriend and then later during august or late july I am going to take a trip to Catalina.

I thought i wanted to be an art teacher, and when i went to explorer elementary my thoughts totally changed. I don't want to be a teacher. Over the summer i am going to get better at printmaking so i can print on my own shirts and sell them. =]

I used to want to be a lawyer but since having this internship I realized that law isn't the way to go for me, or at least I don't think it is. I'm not taking law school out of the picture forever but I know that after undergrad I'm going to pursue a job for either the city council, or as an American Counsel. Most likely city work at first then work up to working for the gov't.

1) This internship has really confirmed that I enjoy programming and working in the software development industry. Even when I've worked 10 hours and can hardly read the code anymore, I can still enjoy continuing to work... though I'll usually stop. This is one of the few things that, even when I don't feel like doing anything, when I sit down and start working I enjoy it.

2) This summer I hope to continue working with CR, and software development in general.

I'm not really sure what I plan on doing when I grow up. I have not yet planned that part of my life. I think it's exciting not to know. I don't want to plan ahead because I want it to come to me in a way. I want to experiment with different professions. I think my internship helped give me a different profession to consider. I've now worked in culinary, PR, and real estate.

This summer I am JAM-PACKED. At least 60 hours a week will be spent working at my job I've had the past 2.5 years. Don't come to Sea World. I'm also considering picking up another job for more money. I also plan on going away for a week and preparing for college.

What I want to be when I grow up?
Good question. I'll have to say that I want to work on the business area as a marketing director. I was doing my internship just for fun. Fortunately during my jr. year I got to do one of my internships over Explorer with 4th graders. Before I took my internship I was pretty sure of what I wanted to be a "Elementary Teacher" but once I took that internship I changed my mind, because I got the opportunity to work with the chamber of commerce and I really liked the environment of the business area.
About summer; I think I am going to San Francisco and get ready for college, it is pretty scary!!!
